HUGO - The film -
This wonderful 3D film by Martin Scorsese will take you on a fantastic adventure where dreams come true! It tells the story of Hugo, an orphan boy who lives in a train station in Paris and whose only "friend" is an automaton built by his father. The automaton will start working when Hugo finds the right key, but that won't be an easy task. With a cast including Ben Kingsley, Jude Law, Christopher Lee, Sacha Baron Cohen, Asa Butterfield and Chloë Grace, the film has been awarded five Oscars and several BAFTAs, so it is definitely worth seeing. Charles Dickens's Bicentenary
This year is the bicentenary of Charles Dickens's birth, so there are lots of interesting celebrations, special events, exhibitions and cultural projects in Portsmouth, his hometown, and in London, where he spent most of his life. In Portsmouth, most of the celebrations will take place around the 7th of February, the day he was born, at his birthplace. In London, city libraries will take part in The City Read in April, when Oliver Twist will be read throughout the capital. The Charles Dickens Museum (just reopened) and the Museum of London will organise major exhibitions too. At the London BFI Southbank, you can also enjoy the Dickens on Screen Festival and at Westminster Abbey there will be a formal commemoration. If you are a big fan of this author but cannot visit the UK this year, the British Council has launched a Global Celebration as well. For more information on all these events, click here.

Winter Wonderland
Christmas is just a few days away and Santa (also known as Father Christmas) has already set on his journey to deliver presents. Would you like to track Santa and his reindeer as they travel across the world? You can do this on Google Earth through Norad. This is the video for his journey last year. Merry Christmas and have fun!
